Jab Counter Support

Frequently Asked Questions & Contact

Can Apple Watch track boxing punches?

Yes. Jab Counter uses the accelerometer built into every Apple Watch to detect and count lead-hand punches. No additional sensors or hardware are required.

Is Jab Counter really free?

Yes. Punch counting, acceleration measurement, heart rate, calories, and Apple Health sync are permanently free. There is no trial period and no subscription.

What punches does Jab Counter count?

Jab Counter tracks all lead-hand strikes including jabs, hooks, and uppercuts. It is specifically designed for the lead hand rather than attempting to classify every punch type from both hands.

Does it work for heavy bag, shadowboxing, and pad work?

Yes. The app tracks your lead-hand output across all three. Start a session, begin training, and Jab Counter logs the full session automatically.

Does Jab Counter sync with Apple Health?

Yes. All session data including punch count, heart rate, calories, and duration syncs automatically to Apple Health via HealthKit.

The app is not showing workouts, or the workout won't start on my Apple Watch

This is almost always caused by missing HealthKit permissions. Open the Health app on your iPhone, go to Sharing > Apps, tap Jab Counter, and make sure all permissions are turned on. You can also check this under Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Jab Counter on your iPhone. Once all permissions are granted, restart the app on your Apple Watch and try again.

Is there anything that can affect accuracy?

Punch detection uses wrist accelerometer data. High-energy activities like jump rope may register as light punches. You can exclude specific intervals (warmups, jump rope, cooldowns) directly in the app to keep your punch stats accurate.
